Portfolio Sessions and Public Viewing
The Senior BFA

To prepare for this, we are holding the AIGA Student Portfolio
Sessions and Public Viewing.
Calling all professional designers! The
most nerve-wracking part of starting a career
for a graduating senior BFA design student is undoubtably
the interview. We believe
that the best way to be prepared is to practice. This year
we’ve chosen a different
approach to prepare our portfolios. The senior BFA design
students at UH Manoa
welcome the more casual and personal, AIGA Student Portfolio
Sessions. We have
gathered our best design work and are looking to get feedback
from the professional
community. We would like to invite Oahu’s professional
designers to participate in
mock interview sessions with our senior BFA design students.
If you are a professional
designer on Oahu, and would like to participate in these sessions,
we would be honored
to get your feedback and advice.

Designer Dialogue: Jeff Matz
Co-Founder, Lure
Design
The Art of The Poster

Jeff
Matz is a founding partner of Lure
Design in Orlando,
Florida, a design studio working in corporate communications,
branding, packaging, book design and poster design. He's a
graduate of Ringling
School of Art and Design. Jeff worked in a few advertising
agencies before opening Lure with partner, Paul Mastriani,
in 1998.
Being
a music fan (aren't we all?) and hack guitar player himself
(aren't we all?), Jeff began combining his love of music
and design creating rock posters for a local promoter around
1996. At that
time,
these posters were digital or offset prints. A handful were
screen printed. When Lure moved into its loft-like space
in 2003 they set up a DIY screen
printing shop and Jeff began screen printing his show posters.
Jeff's work has been published in publications such as Novum,
Communication Arts, Print, Paste and a number of books including
The Art of Modern
Rock, New Vintage Type, Graphis Posters Annuals, Swag-Art
Rock
of the 90s and Rockport’s One Color Graphics.
Jeff currently
sits on the board of AIGA
Orlando and has served Chapter
President. He has also been invited to judge several
awards shows and publications, including the 2005 Communication
Arts Design
